Danone “Craving” To Acquire African and Chinese Markets
French food maker Danone is looking for opportunities to acquire or merge in African and Chinese regions to increase their consumer base. The reason for this expansion is that the company sees that there is a growing demand of their products in these countries owing to the interest in healthy food.
Heading towards Africa
Danone has recently increased its stake in Centrale Laitiere, Moroccan Dairy Company for US $339 million. In 2013 the company bought 49% stake in Fan Milk, West Africa and 40% stake in Brookside Dairy, Kenya. With such aggressive efforts Danone is hoping to increase its presence in the entire African continent.
Can’t deny China’s growth
China market is yet another key pillar in Danone’s growth strategy. Last October the company acquired 25% stake in Yashili, powdered milk producer.
With such aggressive growth strategy Danone will quickly be able to build its consumer base.
