To cut it short
We all love how 3D can make everything come to life. But what if you have to present a 3D concept to a jury full of Arabic speakers, when you’ve been out of your country and Arabic has been your second language? It gets funnier than you think!
Dany El Eid, had a similar experience. Read on to find out more.
“Well the funniest and most awkward situation happened during my experience on Stars of Science. My proficiency in Arabic is really not quite up to par yet, particularly because I lived abroad most of my life while growing up and I was not usually fond of taking Arabic home tutoring classes.
When I took the leap towards presenting my ideas on augmented reality innovations, which have lots of technical terms to explain, consider the situation of having to present my ideas only in Arabic to a room full of juries in front of Pan Arab television. Thankfully, Stars of Science is not live a show but that also meant that explaining one sentence in Arabic could take up to 30min with lots of funny out-takes and bloopers!
It was funny especially since, as Lebanese, we usually have the habit of mixing and matching French, English and Arabic on a regular basis. Well on Stars of Science I couldn’t even use a single foreign word. It was really, really hard. For me, the challenge of the show was more about the Arabic than the program itself! Maybe that is why it became so important to introduce Arabic language into colorbug, our edutainment application for kids. To help kids learn a language in a more fun and engaging way is very important. But like they say, all’s well that ends well. It was a great experience being on Stars of Science and it was a definitive leap in bringing our business to another level.”
