- LG to expand its Solar Division: Tech aside, LG’s solar division is on a rise. In a recent press statement, the company indicated that it is spending $435 million to add more six more production lines to its facility in Korea. By doing so, LG hopes to increase its bite-size annual solar production to a full-fledged capacity. Currently, LG’s solar production is limited to 1GW. However, by 2018 the company aims to reach 1.8GW and 3GW by 2020. Here’s wishing LG a fibrous start to a new beginning!
- Google Incorporates Panda into its Core Algorithm: Google Panda, don’t mistake it for Kung Fu Panda is now incorporated into Google’s core algorithm. Google Panda is one of Google’s most condensed spam-fighting algorithms that measure the quality of a site, thereby helping adjust ranking. While Panda’s incorporation with Google’s core algorithm was long overdue, we are glad the fiery algorithm has been baked in as one.
- Oil Price Declines: The oil industry is experiencing its worse in years. A recent report suggests that crude oil prices plunged below $30 a barrel for the first time since December 2003. Oil prices have been dipping low due to a plethora of factors. These include, outbreak of tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, China’s distasteful economy, massive supply glut, U.S. dollar becoming strong and many other unseen situations that has led to a dramatic crash.
- Pokémon Turns 20: Pokémon has some luck. On its 20th anniversary, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow are re-releasing on the Nintendo eShop as digital downloads. The 3DS bundle will come with all three games pre-installed, and will also be packaged with a special Pokémon menu theme. The slew of festivities for Pokémon’s 20th anniversary include a Pokémon TCG Generations expansion with Red and Blue collection boxes, event releases of Mew, Darkrai, Arceus, Genesect, a new line of Pokémon Center goods and a freakin’ Super Bowl commercial. Whoa! Now that is a scrumptious celebration!
