Qatar Airways is looking to expand its global presence via equity investments in other airlines.
The already 10% owner of Intertional Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Spain’s Iberia, Qatar Airways is looking to increase their stakes in it.
According to Akbar al-Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, minimal investments of 5% are not part of the plan. Without disclosing any figures, he mentioned only major investments will be made as they look to battle with their Persian Gulf competitor, Etihad Airways for aviation industry domination.
